The Fighting Colours of Richard J. Caruana: 50th Anniversary Collection. 5: Hawker Hunter in British Service - PaperbackCaruana, Richard J.All variants, including the two-seater, are illustrated with drawings of the different versions that complete the book. Overall, it is a real treat for the eyes and a valuable reference for enthusiasts. - ModelingMadness.Com Call it elegance, grace or even beauty; the Hawker Hunter was the last of a generation of aircraft in which one of the rules of thumb in design philosophy was "if it looks good, it will fly good." At that time there were no computer gurus capable of running flight simulations on the desktop. Everything had to be done with pencil and slide rule. Richard J. Caruana describes and illustrates this thoroughbred Hawker, with a selection of some of the more colorful patterns sported by this fighter. The Hawker's chief designer, Sir Sydney Camm, found little inspiration in the official specifications outlined in the F.43/46 and gave birth to a completely different design concept with the P.1067 designation, flexible enough to accept different engines. This led to the Mk. 1 and Mk. Mk. 4 were powered by the Rolls-Royce Avon, while the Mk. 2 and Mk. 5 by the Armstrong Whitworth Sapphire. This dual use of engines probably saved the Hunter from oblivion, as had happened to the problematic Sapphire of the Supermarine Swift. It was, however, with the arrival of the Hunter Mk. 6 that a true fighter aircraft was born. The revised and reinforced wings could carry more fuel in the subalar tanks, giving the Hunter longer legs, along with the ability to carry bombs and rockets with the introduction of the Mk. 9 ground attack version.

Book Colors of the Bulgarian Fighters 1919-1948 Volume 1 - WHITE SEREIS.Author: Bernard DenesISBN Code: 9788365958181Text in EnglishRelease Date: 12/12/2018Series: WhiteFormat: A4 HB, 296 pages (296 in color), Bulgaria was probably the most historically underestimated Axis ally that actually fought the Allies during World War II. It faced its fair share of conflict because of its fighter aviation's combat activity against the U.S. bomber fleet and their fighter escorts in 1943 and 1944. Then, after a reversal in early September 1944, the Bulgarians fought against their former ally, the Germans. This two-volume series describes and illustrates all the fighter and training aircraft used by the Bulgarian armed forces before, during, and immediately after World War II. These aircraft came from Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. Emphasis is placed on the most powerful German fighter types, the Messerschmitt Bf 109E and G, as well as the leading French fighter model, the Dewoitine D.520. Also included, however, are rare and exotic models, including the only locally built prototype that falls under the definition, the DAR-5.Contents:PrefaceCamouflage paints and colors of Bulgarian aircraft (1937-1945)Paints and lacquers for German aviationMarkings and codes of Bulgarian aircraft (1919-1949)Fokker D.VII - The only Bulgarian fighter aircraft of the 1920sDAR-5 Brambar - The only fighter-addresser designed in BulgariaHeinkel He51 Sokol - The first real Bulgarian fighterPZL P.24 Yastreb - Bulgari's most powerful fighter before the warArado Ar 65 Orel - Bulgaria's old "eagle"Focke-Wulf Fw 56 Komar - Bulgaria's first German fighter-addresserAvia B.534 Dogan - The aged Czech biplaneAvia Bs.122 Osa - The agile Czech fighter-trainerArado Ar96B Soyka - Bulgaria's modern and versatile trainerMesserschmitt Bf 109E Strela - Bulgaria's leading arrowAppendices

Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa - WARPAINT 147 SERIES
SKU WARP-147
Brand WARPAINT
Nation: Japan
Period: WWII
Type: Aircraft
Category Books

Book Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa by Daniel Kowalczuk One of the great and little celebrated fighters of the Imperial Japanese Air Force was Nakajima's Ki-43 Hayabusa (Pilgrim Falcon). Codenamed "Oscar" by the Allies, the plane was often mistaken for the Navy's A6M2 Zero by those who encountered it in combat, to the point that it was widely referred to by its opponents as the "Army 0." Highly regarded in Japan, where it was much more widely recognized than the Zero, the Ki-43 was the only Japanese fighter of the Pacific War to be employed in active service with other air forces, being supplied to both Thailand and Manchukuo by the Japanese, but also employed by France in Indochina and by the air forces of Indonesia, the Republic of China, and North Korea.I put abandoned but flightworthy aircraft back into service, some of which survived into the early 1950s. Author Daniel Kowalczuk has compiled a compelling account that contextualizes the aircraft, details its development and active-duty history, and explains how it became so popular with the Japanese that it was the aircraft of choice for anime producers rather than its better-known contemporary.
