So by the end of the conflict there were a large number of C-47s in various versions. Thanks to its great characteristics, the C-47 was able to make itself useful even in peacetime settings; it is still one of the most widely used aircraft in many countries for short-range routes, both for passenger and cargo transport. The turboprop-engined version called the C-47TP is an example of how the C-47 has adapted to a wide variety of roles. A seaplane version was also built, but in very limited numbers. In some cases it was also equipped with skids in order to operate in extreme climates.
