The prototype flight took place on May 27, 1958, and mass production began in 1961. Originally, the F-4 was intended only as a stormtrooper, but from 1955 onward, design work went into meeting the U.S. Navy's need for a new airborne fighter. The F-4 Phantom proved to be a highly successful machine, produced in multiple versions, exported to many countries, and produced under license. German Leopard 2A4 1/72 Scale Combat Tank Kit - Meng Model.The Leopard 2 is a modern third-generation German main battle tank. The first prototypes of the vehicle were built in 1973, and mass production that began in 1979 continues to this day. To date (2018) 3,480 such tanks have been produced. The Leopard 2 is powered by the 1,500-hp MTU MB 873 Ka 501 engine. The vehicle is armed with a single 120-mm Rheinmetall Rh-M-120 cannon and two 7.62-mm MG3 machine guns.The Leopard 2 was developed in response to the demand for a new Main Battle Tank announced by the Bundeswehr back in the early 1960s. The new vehicle was to replace Leopard 1 tanks in the West German Army. Initially, cooperation with American companies (e.g., Chrysler) was undertaken in a project designated as MBT-70. However, after a few years, the cooperation was discontinued and further work focused only on German companies. It also has excellent armor, using composites and SKO (fire control system). It was also armed with the large Rh-M-120 gun, which became a standard for many NATO countries in the 1980s and 1990s. Several versions of the tank were created in the course of Leopard 2 series production, two of which deserve special attention: A 4 and A 6.
