1/144 Douglas DC-8-32 Swissair
The Douglas DC-8-32 was a variant of the Douglas DC-8 jet airliner, produced by the Douglas Aircraft Company in the United States. The Swiss airline Swissair was one of the airlines that operated this version of the plane.
The DC-8-32 was one of several versions of the DC-8, with minor variations in capability and performance, but with a similar basic configuration. This variant was powered by Pratt & Whitney JT4A jet engines and could carry about 150-180 passengers, depending on the interior cabin configuration.
Swissair operated several versions of the Douglas DC-8, including the DC-8-32, on long-haul routes between Europe and North America, as well as to other international destinations. These aircraft were used extensively by the airline from the 1960s to the 1980s, providing flight services for passengers internationally.
With the advent of more modern and efficient jet aircraft, Swissair's DC-8 fleet, along with other airlines, was gradually replaced by more advanced models. Swissair, in particular, ceased operations in 2002, but the airline's name and legacy remain an important memory in Swiss and international aviation history.
