1/48 A-7 (E,D) "CORSAIR II" EXHAUST NOZZLE FOR HASEGAWA KIT
The A-7 Corsair II was a ground attack aircraft developed by the Vought Corporation in the United States in the 1960s. The name "Corsair II" is a continuation of the tradition of naming aircraft after seabirds by the United States Navy.
The A-7 Corsair II was designed to replace the A-4 Skyhawk as a ground attack aircraft embarked on aircraft carriers. It was a rugged and versatile aircraft with long-range flight capability and the ability to operate in hostile environments and with less maintenance requirements than its predecessors.
The A-7 Corsair II was equipped with a wide range of weapons, including bombs, rockets, missiles, and internal guns. It was capable of carrying out ground attack, interdiction, close air support and reconnaissance missions, demonstrating its versatility and adaptability to different operational requirements.
The A-7E version was a variant of the A-7 Corsair II intended for embarked use on aircraft carriers. It was equipped with avionics enhancements and a more advanced weapons system than previous versions, making it even more effective in the ground attack and electronic warfare roles.
The A-7D was a version intended for the United States Air Force, optimized for flight from land bases. It had some differences from the versions for the U.S. Navy, but retained the versatility and mission effectiveness.
The A-7 Corsair II was successfully employed by the United States Navy and the United States Air Force, as well as some air forces and navies of other countries allied to the United States. It has been involved in several military operations, including the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and other combat operations.
The A-7 Corsair II has proven to be a reliable and adaptable aircraft, earning a good reputation among the pilots and armed forces that have employed it. It was retired from active service during the 1990s, replaced by more modern aircraft, but it is still appreciated by aviation enthusiasts and can be seen in some air shows and aviation museums.
