1/72 OV-10A (for ICM)
The OV-10A is a light and versatile military aircraft developed in the United States. "OV" stands for "Observation," indicating its main mission of observation and reconnaissance. The OV-10A Bronco was originally designed in the 1960s by North American Aviation (later North American Rockwell and eventually Northrop Corporation) for the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the United States Navy (USN).
Featuring a twin-engine turboprop design, the OV-10A was primarily employed to provide close air support, reconnaissance and armed interdiction. Its two-seat tandem configuration allowed the pilot and observer or navigator to work together during missions.
The OV-10A was used in various military operations, including conflicts such as the Vietnam War and the civil war in Lebanon, where it demonstrated its versatility, ability to operate from unprepared runways, and good tactical surveillance capability.
Although the OV-10A is no longer in active service in the U.S. military, some variants of the aircraft and modern versions have been developed and are still used by several nations around the world for close air support, anti-guerrilla, surveillance, and other special operations missions.
