1/72 Macchi MC.200 interior set
The Macchi MC.200, also known as the "Macchi C.200 Saetta" (Saetta means "arrow" in Italian), was an Italian fighter aircraft developed and produced by Aeronautica Macchi S.p.A. during the 1930s and used during World War II.
The MC.200 was a single-seat monoplane with a metal structure, cantilever wings and retractable landing gear. It was powered by a 14-cylinder radial engine, usually the Isotta Fraschini Asso XI or Alfa Romeo R.A.1000, which provided good speed and agility.
This fighter plane was widely considered one of the best aircraft of the Regia Aeronautica (the Italian Air Force) during the early years of World War II. It was fast, maneuverable, and had a good range, making it a fearsome opponent for many Allied aircraft of the time.
However, the Macchi MC.200, like other Italian aircraft, was in the long run overtaken by the Allies' more modern and powerful fighter planes. Nevertheless, it was employed in various campaigns during the war, including the Mediterranean theater, North Africa, and the Balkans.
The Macchi MC.200 became an icon of World War II Italian aviation and was one of the main fighters used by the Regia Aeronautica in the early period of the conflict.
