The North American B-25 Mitchell was a twin-engine, monoplane medium-wing bomber developed by the U.S. aircraft company North American Aviation in the late 1930s and primarily employed by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II and regarded as one of the best medium bombers of the conflict. Sixteen B-25 Mitchells, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle, with the famous bombing raid on Tokyo first struck the territory of Japan in the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack.
