1/48 Blackburn Buccanneer - Big Set for Airfix
The Blackburn Buccaneer was a British attack aircraft in service with the Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm from 1962 to 1993.
The Buccaneer bireactor was one of the first all-weather attack interdictors in history, comparable to the A-6 Intruder, which was also embarked.
Buccaneers, 16 of which were exported to South Africa, were used for decades by the RAF, which also took over those of the Royal Navy when it was deprived of fixed-wing aircraft. The Buccaneer was produced in more than 200 examples, and the 4 additional pylons for an additional 5,400 kg of cargo, including 4 Martel-Sea Eagle missiles or laser-guided bombs, increased the effectiveness of an aircraft otherwise obsolete due to lack of upgrades.
