1/48 F-86D TFace (for Revell)
The D, K and L versions of the North American F-86 Sabre were those intended for the role of "all-weather fighter," i.e., characterized by the presence of on-board radar equipment capable of ensuring the acquisition of targets even in conditions of reduced or zero visibility by the pilot.
In particular, the F-86D version was the first realization of a single-seat all-weather interceptor fighter equipped with highly sophisticated radar and fire targeting equipment for the time, with armament consisting solely of rockets.
The F-86K version was the version intended for export, equipped with a less sophisticated radar and armament consisting of cannons and later, infrared-guided missiles. Built under license by Fiat, it was supplied to the air forces of some NATO member countries.
Finally, the F-86L version was a technological adaptation of the "D" version, to make it capable of integrating into the U.S. SAGE defense system, pending the entry into service of supersonic interceptor fighters.
